Harold Kimble was born June 22, 1947, in Gadsden, Alabama to the late Howard and Marie Kimble. Harold was the second of five (Alvery, Annette, Alice and Danny) children. His parents ensured that he was raised in the fear and admonition of our Lord and Savior, and at an early age, he joined in Christian fellowship with the First Baptist Church, Alabama City, Alabama, under the leadership of Rev. E.L. Gary. He matriculated thru the ranks of the Gadsden City School system, before joining the U.S. Army in 1965_. During his time in military service, Harold served several capacities, some which required high level security clearance.
After being honorably discharged from the Army, Harold returned to his hometown, and pursued several entrepreneurial ventures and pursued several different career paths. He enrolled at Gadsden State Community College and majored in Radio and Television Broadcast. In 1982, he relocated from his home state of Alabama to Washington, DC. While there he worked as a government employee at our nation’s capital.
Pastor Kimble has a powerful testimony of that tells of series of events that God allowed, which led to him rededicating and surrendering his life to the Lord in 1977. He began working tirelessly in his home church singing in the male chorus and serving in any way that he could. On April 17, 1983, he answered the constant and compelling call of God in the Gospel Ministry of our Lord. He returned home to proclaim his first public message at the First Baptist Church, Alabama City, Alabama, under pastoral care of Rev. J.M. Woods, Jr. The text and topic of that message II Thessalonians 3: 1-5. “Let the Word of the Lord Have Free Course” have been the guiding light and foundation for his ministry or more than 38 years.
Harold hit the ground running with this gospel message, by becoming the Pastoral Care Director at Health Care Institute in Washington, DC. Wanting to ensure that he was well equipped for his ministerial journey, Harold enrolled in the Washington Baptist Seminary, where he graduated with a Bachelor’s Degree in Theology.
After graduating he returned back home to Gadsden, Alabama, in 1987, and became Interim Pastor at the Emmanuel Lutheran Church. He was called to pastor Mt. Zion Baptist Church, Attalla, Alabama in January 1988.
While serving as Pastor of Mt. Zion, the Lord opened many doors for Harold. He served as the president of the local SCLC. God also allowed him the opportunity to host a community awareness talk show, on the local radio station “Community Speaks”. This show spotlighted the local issues as they pertained to education, politics, and youth concerns. This was the springboard the development of Quest for Excellence, a non-profit, youth development organization which touched and blessed the lives of hundreds of youth in the Gadsden/Etowah County area. Quest for Excellence was nationally recognized as a model program and received the Points of Light Award by Pastor Bill Clinton and the All- America City Award by President George H.W. Bush.
Additional labor included the establishment of the Attalla Community Life Center, where noon bible study and lunch were offered every day for the local seniors. The ALC was also home to a thriving youth ministry. Pastor Kimble also supports and assists in establishing other non-profit organizations and ministries to further evangelism thru media such as television and web radio.
